Chinatown Street Eateries
This is a pic of Chinatown in Singapore. On weekdays from 6 to 12 in the evening, the streets and bylanes of Chinatown are converted into open restaurants. You can just chill here after a hard days work ย with a drink and a plate of fried prawns. They also serve gourmet food and Thai, Vietnamese and Korean food . Not a place for a quick bite but a more relaxed thing. Very popular with tourists. For me this is a place which is totally stress free and a haven for the overworked and really tired people looking to grab some chill time. ย Ofcourse you have the kopitians in every corner in Singapore but people are always in a rush there. This is more relaxed with the open sitting and no conformity to anything. Plus I simply love Chinatown.
Strange that Kolkata still retains this subhuman profession!
This photo beautifully captures the old and the new of Singapore. The long shot of the road with traditional Chinese eateries with the modern skyscrapers of Singapore in light background…a truly wonderful shot!! This one single shot captures the old world charm of Singapore against the backdrop of modernity.
If you have been to Singapore and not soaked in Chinatown then you have missed it!!
Ranu this is the unique part of Singapore ….it was nice that we chose this part of the city and spend some time here…good memories.
How lovely! Great idea, great photo.
Wonderful and very interesting street scene! Well captured!
Looks very colourful (despite the b&w) ๐
Beautiful photo. Very artistic. Wonderful to be able to get different types of food from one locale.
A beautiful black and white image. I think you can find many tasty dishes here.
Yummy! Your shot yes and I’d love to sit and eat there….
A splendid B&W composition. So many interesting details to study!

Great idea to have more than one purpose for a road, or is it the other way around – let the traffic through when people aren’t eating. Sounds like the perfect place to eat. And your capture it beautifully.
It looks like a great place for a meal. I like the tables down the street – no vehicle traffic.
Love the photo! It really captured the relaxed ambience. What happen on the weekends? Are they closed?
Thanks for the comment. Nope they are open all day on weekends and public holidays. ๐ ๐ ๐
Not many place in Singapore one could find an open air eating place like this, it used to be very common years ago until all of them were housed in a sheltered hawker center.
