travels to Panchgani
Mahabaleshwar is a popular hill-station in Maharashtra. Due to its proximity to the metro cities of Mumbai and Pune, it is a popular weekend getaway. This is the pic of one of the points in Mahabaleshwar. One can see a natural rock formation with a hole in between, thus giving the name Needle-hole. The point is also famous for the view of Deccan traps, which looks like an elephant’s trunk. This natural formation makes it a must visit to for all tourists.
I took this pic decades back on one of my trips to Mahabaleshwar. The beauty of the natural formation is exquisite. The rock formation which looks like a needle and that of a standing elephant makes it a natural phenomenon and something beautiful to look for.
This pic is again one from the archives. I took this pic in 2007 with a manual roll camera. I don’t remember where I took this pic but I remember hubby climbing a fence and smiling his way up. This was too good a shot to resist. I love this composition and it is an absolute delight to watch even today. I haven’t done any editing to it except for monochroming it. It is absolutely perfect!!!
“Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.”
― Albert Camus
The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit and freedom.

I took this pic in my recent visit to Panchgani. The tableland is home to a large number of monkeys. They have a peaceful existence there and is often seen frolicking with their friends. This particular monkey grabbed a bottle of water from one of the visitors and opened the bottle with his hands and drank like anybody would unlike the other monkeys who bit of the end of the bottle to have a drink.
A new life, for myself, I need to weave.
I need some oxygen, so as I can breathe.
From these chains, I need to break free;
I need the chance just to be totally me.I need to escape now, from this prison cell;
Escape from this existence, I know so well.
Afraid of the world, in my corner, I cower;
I’m just like a bud, that’s waiting to flower.I can’t go on like this forever and ever;
The storms in life, I will need to weather.
By your actions, my life has been affected;
I’m just like a child: my life is protected.Sometimes it feels like I am suffocating.
For the perfect moment, I am still waiting.
You know that one day, I will go away;
Here, forever more, I just cannot stay.Into my life, I need to let some light.
From this place, I need to take flight.
I need to try and overcome all my fears.
I need to have my own hopes and ideas.I now need to have my very own space;
I need to live my life at my own pace.
One day, I will be a flower in full bloom,
And that ‘one day’ may come very soon.Angela Wybrow

I took this pic in Tableland Panchgani on a foggy blurry evening. The sky was overcast with heavy clouds threatening to rain. The bench was the ledge on the hill gave a broody effect to the whole panorama. The silhouette only added to the drama of the entire frame.
The fields of millet ready for harvest. The heads of millet were swaying in the wind. Clear blue skies and a splatter of clouds….. All of it make a perfect picture. This is a familiar sight on the way to Panchgani. The unpolluted air and the clear blue skies…. well all of it!!! A perfect place to be in.
